What The People Say

“In the 25 years I have been staging Britains number one schools cricket festival, I have been extremely fortunate to have met some exceptionally talented cricketers and fine young men. So far, since 1987, 54 Bunbury boys have gone on to play for England and 196 into first class cricket. Out of all the dazzling and gifted young cricketers the one that stands out is Alex Tudor.
I first met "Tudes" in our 1992 festival at Charterhouse school. We were blessed with the best group of cricketers in our 25 years. Alex Tudor, Ben Hollioake, Owais Shah, David Sales, David Nash, Andrew Flintoff, Gareth Batty and Liam Botham.
Out of this exciting list of players, Alex Tudor epitomised the Bunbury spirit and ethos in life of work hard / play hard - always with a smile. You could see even at the age of fifteen his ideals of sportsmanship achieved its highest expression. Alex valued the virtue of teamwork, of courtesy towards opponents, of being stoical in defeat and gracious in victory but most of all in his cricket he showed respect. After Bunbury, Alex represented England at U-15, U-17 and U-19 he was awarded his county cap for Surrey C.C.C in 1999 and made his test debut for England in 1998-99.
Having played for London schools at all ages from U8, he made his test debut at Perth 1998-99, his victims included both the Waugh twins. He scored 99 not out in the second innings of the first test vs New Zealand at Edgbaston in 1999 and went on to represent his country 13 times batting with great panache and bowling swiftly with great fire and gusto.
I have known "Al's" dad and mum, Daryll and Jennifer for many years - they are smashing parents. The Oval has always been their home. Daryll worked for Surrey CCC and Al's brother was also on the staff.
"Al" has now retired from first class cricket and is working full time with his coaching clinics. As a young man and a cricketer I cannot think of a better role model. A great individual talent who always puts the success of the team first.”.

Cricket Coaching Parties with Alex Tudor

 Thrilled!  What an 8th birthday to remember!  My son and sixteen other 7-10 year olds thoroughly enjoyed a party coached by Alex at Trent Bridge today.  Alex enthusiastically and efficiently ran a two hour party in which the children ran through drills, fun games, techniques, culminating in some match play and fierce competition to conclude!

Alex has a wonderful manner and ability to engage with the children and they were all excited and motivated to play.  Everyone joined in and the party worked well with all abilities and ages enjoying some fun cricket and learning a few new tactics!

I have had the pleasure of working closely with Alex over the past couple of years in my capacity as a Spencer age group coach.

And I use the word pleasure advisedly. I come across a lot of coaches and very few can match Alex's commitment, drive and energy. He is able to translate often quite technical coaching issues into easy-to-grasp and accessible lessons for the colts.

He communicates easily and confidently, putting the boys and girls at ease. Regardless of the colts' age or ability, Alex seems able to empathise. At the same time, his record and his authority gives him a respect that few can match.

I don’t know how he manages to do it, but he effortlessly succeeds in combining a warm sense of humour, immediate credibility with the boys and real coaching results.

“Going into my sessions with Alex I had a number of technical problems which I wanted to sort out before the new season. We quickly identified these and I am now more confidant in my bowling action, which feels much more comfortable, and generates more pace and accuracy than before. One of the key aims when we began was to improve the bowling action without changing it so much that it would damage my natural attributes;

I feel we have been successful in this and from my own body and from the video analysis of the sessions I can tell that my action now puts much less strain on my body. Alex's experience as a player has been invaluable for me and he has been a great sounding board about all cricketing issues and questions. Overall it has been a pleasure and privilege spending the off season training with such a top bloke and I am now confident going into the new season that our work will pay dividends ”.

My son has had “one on one” sessions with Alex.  Alex taught him how to improve his batting, bowling and catching.  I  know that these sessions have improved his game and his confidence, and I am looking forward to seeing the positive results over this summer’s cricket season.  I would have no hesitation in recommending Alex, whatever the standard of your child’s game.  My son has already asked me when he can see Alex again!

“I can't recommend Alex's coaching clinic highly enough. My son has talent and enthusiasm but in terms of technique was rather raw! Over a term with Alex his technique improved hugely. More importantly Alex made the sessions fun! I could see my son looked up to him as a role model and thus wanted to learn. Overall I was very impressed ”
